Type Rating Training

Bristol Flying Centre is an established Approved Training Organisation (ATO) authorised by the CAA and EASA to train pilots across Europe and ICAO membership states. We offer type ratings for the King Air B200/100/90 series and Citation Jet C525 series.

We have modern, dedicated facilities at Bristol Airport, where we operate seven days a week to deliver training that fits our students’ schedules. As well as offering standard type rating training courses we can provide tailored courses and refreshers, both flight and ground school. We do not use simulators and are happy to travel where possible to avoid costly positioning flights.

The BFC group operates and maintains numerous Citation Jets and King Air aircraft of our own and on behalf of our clients, so can provide real hands-on experience throughout the training programme. Our trainers are recognised within the industry and respected by students of all levels:

  • Classroom training is delivered by Tom Shaw, former base captain for Air South West. His pragmatic approach takes students beyond the exam syllabus into practical, real-world matters.
  • Flight training is with Julian Telling, Steve Hale and Martin Barnes. All three are highly experienced, with over 25000 hours combined experience and each is a qualified type rating and instrument rating examiner.

Pre entry requirements for a type rating in most cases are that the student holds a CPL/IR with ATPL credits. A PPL/IR student must also hold a HPSPA credits or an ICAO ATPL. If you are unsure please contact the head of training who will be able to advise you accordingly.

Please use the links above for course details and pricing or if you have any other questions, please refer to our FAQs or contact the head of training, Julian Telling.
