The Bristol Flying Centre has been offering approved and non-approved professional flight training since the 1980s and continues to provide this service under JAA/FCL.

In the past four years the Centre completed over 400 successful instrument ratings of which approximately 60% were first time passes. During the same period a large number of successful GFT candidates also passed through the Centre.

Overseas CPL/ATPL and UK Military Pilots

Holders of Overseas Licences, who are members of an ICAO Contracting State, are subject to the requirements explained on a separate sheet enclosed. Fixed-wing UK Military Pilots are subject to the requirements in Annex A and B PTC/251099/1/FT. Training requirements for helicopter pilots converting to fixed-wing aircraft, both civil and military, are issued on a separate sheet.

JAA/FCL courses

There are two ways to a JAA/FCL CPL/ATPL - an Integrated course or Modular course.

Integrated courses are available at Approved Commercial Schools where students commence with zero flying hours. The course includes all necessary ground school training, and includes an Approved Instrument Rating. The cost of these courses is normally in the region of £50,000 - £60,000. We do not offer these courses.

JAA/FCL Modular courses

Modular courses can be undertaken at the Bristol Flying Centre. The sequence and course structure are included on a separate sheet. An approved Ground School course must be completed before flying training commences for the CPL Skill Test and Instrument Rating.

JAA/FCL Instrument Rating

The CPL in itself is of limited practical use to aspiring airline pilots who require an Instrument Rating. This rating takes the form of an approved modular course of 55 hours. Also required is a Multi-engine rating and a separate price list is included. The Multi-engine rating must be completed before commencing the Instrument Rating.

In JAA/FCL all ground and flying courses have the same content whether they are for the Integrated or Modular route. The choice is one of preference and finance. If you are interested in pilot training and would like to discuss the subject in greater depth please call us, or better still why not visit the Bristol Flying Centre?
