Flight Training
> Courses > National Private Pilots Licence
Before embarking on any course, we always recommend that you commence
with a trial lesson. A new licence has recently been introduced by
the CAA called the NPPL. The qualification leads to a licence, which
grants the holder the ability to fly a 4-seater aircraft within the
UK. The aircraft must be single engine piston, fixed gear undercarriage
and flown in daytime under visual flight rules (VFR) only.
The course is a total of 32 hours split between 22 hours dual instruction
of which 1 hour comprises instrument appreciation and 10 hours solo
flight. The student must take a number of written, multi choice, exams
and have two flight tests (the general skills test, GST, and the general
navigational test, GNT) both of which last about 1 hour and are in
addition to the 32 hours.
The main advantage is a significantly reduced medical requirement.
It is possible, subject to sufficient hours and appropriate training,
to upgrade the licence to a JAA PPL. |
